“Stay Tuned” to Archives Month in October
Marie Force, Georgia Archives Week Committee Member
The Georgia Archives Month Committee for 2007 is pleased to announce its theme, “Georgia History: Stay Tuned.” Join with libraries, archives, museums, and other record-keeping organizations to celebrate the value of Georgia’s historical records, to publicize the many ways historical records enrich our lives, and to recognize those who maintain our communities’ historical records. This is the ideal time to call attention to your organization or local government, and its work in preserving Georgia’s documentary heritage.
The committee encourages you to think of ways in which your organization can celebrate Archives Month in your community. Need some ideas for the perfect event? Check out events at the GAM Web site (http://www.soga.org/aw/) or the national listing at the Council of State Archivists' (COSA) Archives Month directory (http://www.statearchivists.org/arc/archweek.htm) for inspiration.
Once you plan your event, drop the committee a note so that your celebration can be added to the Web site. Please view our web site at http://www.soga.org/aw/index.php or contact archivesmonth@soga.org (Sara Saunders, 404-865-7155; Sallie Loy, 770-421-2117 ext. 107). We look forward to hearing from you!
