The Reading Bowl Rap for 2003-2004
By Ryan Taylor, Brother-in-Law of Meredith Bates, Library Media Specialist at Snapifnger Elementary School in DaKalb County School System

Note: Substitute the name of your school for Snapfinger!!!!!!

We use our minds/ we take control
Snapfinger dominates at the Reading Bowl

The Word Eater is what you can be, or you can
Go for a Walk Across the Sea
It’s a Great Good Thing you’ll feel inside
It’s what we call Some Kind of Pride

A good book can take you All the Way Home
Black Angels follow wherever you roam
We Flipped when we read about Skeleton Man
Racing the Past just as fast as we can

The Wayfinder is a book you’re sure to love
You’ll think it’s A piece of Heaven above
You can read about The Summer of Riley, hear?
Or another cool book that proves Hope was Here.

These are all the books that you can read
They’ll build your brain – it’s guaranteed
They’ll excite your mind and expand your soul
And help you dominate at the Reading Bowl!

Children who participated in the 2nd annual Georgia Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl learned this Rap to help them remember facts from these books mentioned in the Rap.
