Georgia Library Media Specialist of the Year applications are due by March 31 to District Chairperson Christine Ellington, Upson-Lee South Primary School, 172 Knight Trail, Thomaston, GA 30286

Upson-Lee North and South Elementary School and Spalding County High School will participate in the state Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl on March 27 in DeKalb County. The elementary bowl team is advised by media specialists Hollie Barrow, Christine Ellington and Rhonda Grubb. The high school team is advised by media specialists Jimmie Stout and Beth Whitlock.

Pam Nutt, media specialist at Moore Elementary School in Spalding County, has published an article entitled "School Library Media Specialist/School Board Member: Two Sides of the Same Coin" in Knowledge Quest, the AASL online journal.

Moore Elementary School media center was awarded a Spalding County Hospital grant to improve reading literacy. The $3000 grant will be used to purchase sets of AR books.
