NewsLeader - 2007 Summer

Summer is flying by!
By Rebecca Amerson

I just got back from a great conference at NECC!  The planning committee did an excellent job!  Planning is the key to any successful program.  I am attaching a calendar that I hope will aid you in planning for teaching and learning @ your library!

Try some of the Web 2.0 tools.  Collaborate with a colleague using GOOGLE's Docs & Spreadsheets.  Take a field trip using GOOGLE Earth.  Do your library orientation using an interactive whiteboard.  Update your webpage. Get active in your professional organizations. Explore the new K-12 databases on GALILEO.  Do some weeding.  Take a class at the ETTC.  Get caught up on your professional reading - SLJ, LMC, Teacher Librarian, and Edutopia are some of my favorites....remember that you can read them online using GALILEO!  Search UnitedStreaming for videoclips, images, and songs that could "spice up" your instruction.

Have a great summer.....and a great year!
