The Media Specialist and the Georgia Performance

The 3 rd grade ELA Georgia Performance Standards were used to
show media specialists different ways that they could implement
the Georgia Performance Standards in the media center. Participants
were shown how they could help students make text to text connections
and text to self connections (ELA3R3i); compare and contrast characters
in texts (ELA3R3e); allow students to identify nouns and adjectives
in books (ELA3C1); assist students in determining the author’s
purpose (ELA3R3p), etc.
After the presentation, those attending the session were given
the opportunity to share ways that they implement the GPS in their
media centers. The sharing was beneficial to the presenter and
those that attended it.
