PROMOTE Georgia by Monica Radcliffe
The Georgia DOE Educational Technology Training Centers are excited to announce the second year of PROMOTE Georgia. The PROMOTE Georgia Project is a Phase III initiative
that provides students in grades 2-5, 6-8, and 9-12 the opportunity to work in teams to perform research and develop educational Web sites that teach others about a selected topic. PROMOTE Georgia focuses on student achievement by allowing teams of students to perform research in a Project-Based Learning environment that is grounded in state and national standards. Supervised by a classroom teacher (coach), teams of students grow in areas relevant to curriculum, technology, and life skills all the
while becoming experts on their topic.
The outcome of the pilot year was phenomenal! Please visit http://www.promotega.org
to see the Web projects that were created during the pilot year.
Your local ETTC is offering coaches training that will begin as early as August. Please visit
https://registration.ga-edtech.org
to see when your local ETTC will be offering their training. Depending on whether you participated in the pilot last year or whether this is going to be your first year coaching, your ETTC has a coaches' training designed for you.
If you are a former PROMOTE coach, you will register for course number 23311. If you are a new coach, you will need to register for course 23312.
If you know of an educator who would like to participate in PROMOTE Georgia this year, please feel free to forward this information to them.
