The schedule of the Library Day should look like the following:
9:00-9:45 Honor Legislators who have promoted Libraries with Keynote
Light breakfast.
10:00-11:00 Coaching session with the highlights of what we need to promote and how to lobby in the capitol.
12:00-2:00 Lobbying and library displays inside the wing of the capitol. Possibly a sandwich buffet inside the capitol for librarians and legislators. (We may or may not be able to pull this off.)
One display possibly highlighting the library buildings that have been built in the last few years. Public libraries, school libraries, academic libraries, etc. and thank them for it. Other displays of GALILEO and PINES etc.
A suggestion was to have chocolate bookmarks made (or have some gift) and send invitations to legislators to come to the displays to come pick them up. And at the same time get pictures taken with librarians at the displays. They will be in session between the 10:00 to 12:00 time and will be coming out of session when we are there. It is a way of considering their time.
Another suggestion was since it is Georgia Day (the day Oglethorpe
founded the Georgia colony) that we could get someone to dress
up like Oglethorpe to get attention.
