District
8
We would like to extend congratulations to Julie Stephens, District
8 LMSOTY Nominee, for being awarded the 2003 Library Media Specialist
of the Year for the state of Georgia. Julie is an active member
of District 8 and is doing her part to promote a positive image
for Library Media Specialists.
District 8 participates in the Media Specialist Consortium held
in the spring and fall at the Floyd College Educational Technology
Training Center. Almost 100 media specialists participated in the
fall consortium. This is a great way to connect with others in the
same profession for swapping ideas and suggestions. Thanks to Judy
McEntyre and her staff for their continued support of library media
specialists and the library media programs in District 8.
District 8 has reached its goals of increased membership and participation
in GLMA events. It was nice to see the District 8 members who participated
in the Georgia Council of Media Organizations 2003 conference held
at Jekyll Island. The presentations were very informative. An educational
and fun time was had by all that attended the conference. The 2004
conference will be held in Athens, Georgia.
Cawood Cornelius, Gordon Central High School Library Media Specialist,
is running for President-Elect of GLMA. His goals for GLMA are increasing
membership and continuing to promote the positive impact that Georgia
Library Media Specialists are having on student learning.
If you are interested in being a contact for your school system
in District 8, please contact Cawood Cornelius <
ccornelius@gcbe.org>.
The only requirement is that you are a member of GLMA.
