Why join GLMA?
GLMA provides personalized advocacy and professional learning for Georgian library media specialists. Beyond representing the library media specialists of our state, there are regional professional learning networks connecting you with other LMS in your area.
Advocacy
Without a doubt, many voices are mightier than one, and GLMA proudly represents its members to our Georgia legislation. Martha Bongiorno, president-elect, describes this incredible work done by an “army of volunteers.” Not only representing Georgia’s library media specialists, GLMA keeps its members informed about policies that affect us. And its advocacy doesn’t stop there. GLMA’s advocacy extends further to supporting members in their own programs, like Cicely Lewis’ Read Woke literary movement.
Professional Learning Network
Connect with others in your region. Learn from leaders from all over Georgia who work alongside you in the trenches. GLMA is in touch with the heartbeat of Georgia’s libraries because it is made up of members and leaders working in the field in Georgia libraries. Resources like monthly Twitter chats and webinars stem from practical and regional specific needs. The annual Summer Institute conference is like a cherry on top when it comes to professional learning. Each year like-minded librarians from all over Georgia will share their knowledge with each other--helping us improve and rejuvenating us. The 2021 Summer Institute will take place over June 7-8 in Savannah. Click here to learn more about how to attend.
